The members of Duke's Internal Medicine Residency Program are committed to providing respectful, quality care to diverse patient populations while contributing to the future by training leaders in American health care dedicated to evidenced based medicine practice, humanism and advancing the art and science of medicine.
 
Our Program 
 
The internal medicine residency at Duke University has a focus on academic (evidence-based medicine) and clinical training. We attract a wide-ranging group of residents from national and international schools of medicine. When asked why they chose to come to Duke, residents cite the sense of autonomy and camaraderie among the housestaff most often. 
 
Duke’s environment facilitates the development of close friendships among the interns, residents, faculty, and staff, and stands as one of the key aspects of our program.
 
The Department of Medicine has a sincere and long-standing commitment to the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse group of faculty and trainees, with particular attention to under-represented minorities and women.
