Neal Chaisson, MD

Duke Internal Medicine Resident Alumnus

"I am working at Rex Hospital now in Raleigh for 1 year and will be starting a Pulm/Critical Care fellowship at John's Hopkins next July. We have a little girl who was born last December as well. My experience at Duke has been great for my new job. I literally had no problems getting my job and applying for fellowship demonstrated just how well Duke is respected among other great institutions. My skills that I've learned at Duke have taught me to think critically and when initial intuition does not work, I find myself returning to to the fundamentals of medicine and quick to return to the literature for alternative answers. These are products of a great Duke experience."

Senior Assistant Resident

"I foresee myself taking the pathway of an academic physician where I can contribute to furthering our understanding of disease as well as investigating new therapeutic modalities. I find the university environment personally rewarding and also desire to teach the next generation of physicians."

"The strengths of the program have definitely been the balance of autonomy and direction. I feel that Duke does a good job of giving hands on experience without leaving you to fend for yourself."

"I hope to grow into an outstanding clinician and maybe a researcher - we'll see how things go."
