Residency Council

The Department of Medicine Residency Council is a peer-selected group of residents consisting of four interns, four junior assistant residents (JARs), four senior assistant residents (SARs), three medicine/pediatrics residents, and one medicine/psychiatry resident.
 
The council’s responsibilities include: 
  • Serving as a voice for housestaff and to address, facilitate, and prioritize concerns and desires of the housestaff 
  • Providing a forum for open communication between the administration and housestaff 
  • Ensuring housestaff involvement in the continued strengthening and development of the Duke Internal Medicine residency programs and the department of Internal Medicine 
  • Fostering in all aspects (including empathy, knowledge, community service) the growth and development of individual physicians in training in the Department of Medicine residency training programs.
